Select features for scripting

Some months ago, a user on a mailing list was asking to run a python script from selected features.

One possibility to achieve this is to select features in a layer using existing QGIS tools, then run your script.

However, the user choice was to have like a prompt when running the script to give instructions for selection then proceed with the result.
